JEJU, Republic of Korea (Oct. 6, 2023) The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Ralph Johnson (DDG 114) departed the island of Jeju, Oct. 6, after a scheduled port visit.
This port visit reflects the longstanding partnership between the United States and the Republic of Korea, as well as shared commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the region.
“My crew is extremely excited to visit Jeju and work towards deepening the already strong ties with our friends and ROK Navy allies,” said Cmdr. Isaia Infante, commanding officer of Ralph Johnson. “The ROK Navy has routinely welcomed our ships to their ports and it’s an honor to visit this great ally and country.”
Ralph Johnson Sailors experienced the beautiful nature, specialty seafood dishes and the culture during their visit.
“After being at sea for almost two months, I was extremely excited for this trip to Jeju,” said Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Jill Harvey. “I heard this place is famous for its seafood and beautiful nature, and the island didn’t disappoint.”
Ralph Johnson is forward-deployed and assigned to Commander, Task Force 71/Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 15, the Navy’s largest DESRON and U.S. 7th Fleet’s principal surface force. U.S. 7th Fleet is the U.S. Navy's largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, and routinely interacts and operates with allies and partners in preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
