U.S. Army Garrison Fort Hamilton command team, residence housing manager, privatized housing partner representatives from Fort Hamilton Family Homes (FHFH), and garrison residents discussed resident issues at various stops throughout the Fort Hamilton housing areas during the garrison’s quarterly walking town hall on Sept. 6.
Key issues discussed included noise disruptions, lantern flies, sporadic cable and internet service, civilian access to the fitness center/gym, and Child Development Center hours.
Garrison leadership and FHFH housing partners ensured residents in a letter that processes are underway to address concerns, including contacting the New York Police Department's 68th Precinct about noise disruptions and hiring new Child Youth Program assistants pending background checks and training.
The walking town hall concluded at the chapel with a safety brief from garrison safety officer Paul Smaw regarding the proper e-battery handling and disposal, followed by pizza provided by the Religious Support Office.
The quarterly community town halls foster direct interaction between the garrison command, housing representatives and residents to address concerns and ensure residents' needs are met.
