JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD,Wa -Located on Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington (JBLM) is the Northwest Adventure Center (NAC); a place for Soldiers to engage in all things that the Pacific Northwest has to offer. The NAC allows active duty Soldiers, retirees, DOD civilians, and reserve Soldiers the opportunity to buy gear for their upcoming outdoor adventures, rent equipment and even cabins with amazing views of American Lake.
1.The Center
Found on North Fort, the NAC’s central building houses a variety of offices like: the Warrior Adventure Quest (WAQ), Recharge for Resiliency (R4R), Ticket Sales, and many more. The main building is also home to the retail store where they sell equipment for the fishing, camping, or outdoor enthusiasts, even renting bigger equipment like snowboards, kayaks, or boats. Cabins, RV and tent sites are also available to rent. Common areas have Wi-Fi access, along with toilets, showers and laundry facilities. Cabins come fully furnished, with internet and cable provided.
2. Holiday Park
The second NAC site, Holiday Park, is on McChord Air Force Base, and has 54 RV sites, 12 tent sites and fully operational common areas. The Pavilion can be rented up to a year in advance, and the Yurt is available to rent on a daily basis. With a multitude of grills, picnic tables, field space, horseshoe pits and shelters, Holiday Park is another great option for spending some time in the great outdoors.
3.Programs
The WAQ and R4R programs allow units to build morale through traveling to new and exciting places, engaging in team building activities and exploring the surrounding areas of JBLM. This organization is government funded to help with Soldiers mental health as well as building unit cohesion.
The NAC also offers military ticket sales, where eligible patrons can plan their trips to the country’s biggest amusement parks throughout the United States such as Disneyland, Disneyworld, Legoland, Universal Studios and many others. They also offer reduced prices for local activities such as the Seattle CityPASS: a single pass granting you to the Space Needle, Seattle Aquarium and three other eligible attractions.
