U.S. Air Force Col. John Poole, 375th Air Mobility Wing commander, Col. Richard Kind, 375th AMW deputy commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Shawn Andrews, 375th AMW command chief, visited the 375th Operations Group Detachment 1 at Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on Oct. 3, 2023.
Detachment 1 assumes a critical role in combat inspection, conducting assessments of airfield navigation, instrument landing systems, radars, and instrument procedures to ensure the functionality and reliability of these components in aviation operations.
Pilots from Det. 1 operate the Federal Aviation Administration’s Challenger 600-series aircraft, traveling to austere locations such as Antarctica and combat zones around the world. Det. 1 is the only active duty unit out of the three Air Force Combat Flight Inspection units.
The 375th AMW leadership gained insights into the operational capabilities of Det. 1 and the crucial role its unique mission plays.
The visit highlights the ongoing partnership between the 375th AMW, Det. 1, and the FAA in ensuring global reach capabilities and operational readiness.
