In incidents of terrorism, crisis and other threats, Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point security and emergency personnel proved the capability to defend the installation and safeguard personnel during the annual full-scale exercise event Sudden Crisis 2023, Oct. 24, 2024.
According to exercise managers, the training was successful in testing the installation’s tactics, techniques and procedures, and management of various situations. The scenarios included securing its access control points and waterside borders, as well as demonstrations of acceptable responsiveness to multiple emergency and crisis incidents. The exercise, which also included participation from the U.S. Coast Guard, North Carolina Marine Patrol and Craven Emergency Management, also validated the installation’s ability to work interoperate with external agencies.
Though the exercise tested the air station’s staff, officials remind community members that security and safety is a continual effort and everyone plays a role in ensuring the safety and security of the installation. Report suspicious activity to 252-466-3616.
