Quartermaster 1st Class Marquise Hammond, assigned to Naval Station (NAVSTA) Rota Administrative Department, is the leading petty officer for the department.
“Daily duties include leading administrative/transient personnel/N1 personnel,” he said. “I am responsible for passports, SSN [Social Security Numbers], and birth certificates for the entire installation and tenant commands.”
Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Hammond grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. In July 2017, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Previous duty stations include Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer USS Donald Cook (DDG 75) while it was homeported in Rota, Spain, and Forward Deployed Naval Forces-Europe School at Little Creek, Virginia.
“My favorite thing about being stationed at my command is being able to spend more time with my family, due to spending a lot of time forward deployed,” said Hammond.
In addition to his daily duties, his collateral duties include lead passport agent, assistant Command Managed Equality Opportunity (CMEO), departmental career counselor, assistant command duty officer, lead Command Pay and Personnel Administrator (CPPA), and admin evaluator with the installation training team.
Hammond fills his personal time with taking college classes through University of Maryland Global Campus as well as relaxing at home with his family and traveling.
“My favorite thing about being stationed in Spain is traveling and being close to family.”
