Strengthening partnerships one note at a time

The United States Air Forces in Europe (USAFE) Concert Band, U.S. Consulate-Krakow and Bytom Air Force Orchestra conducted numerous joint public outreach performances in Brzeg Dolny, Lublin, Przemyśl, and Rzeszów, Poland, Oct. 23-30, 2023. The Stronger Together tour solidifies NATO relationships, advances partnership priorities, and showcases the interoperability and combined partner capabilities on stage through the universal language of music.

“The United States Air Forces Band, the mission and overview of what we're doing here in Poland is playing concerts, and through concerts and music we are creating new relationships; we are carrying the messages for the United States Air Force here in Europe,” said Maj. Rafael Toro-Quinones, United States Air Forces in Europe Concert Band commander, the main musical conductor representing the USAFE Band during their engagement in Poland. “We’re ensuring allies that the partnership between Poland and the United States is strong, is strategic and we need to continue carrying that message to the people of Poland.”

The bilateral engagement propelled by the USAFE Concert Band, which reached nearly 4,000 audience members across the four performances, is the next step in the evolutionary development of musical cultural dialogue and exchange.

“A concert of American and Polish soldiers, like this, certainly brings us together. Not only soldiers, but it brings together nations and everyone who knows how necessary and important partnerships are,” said Pavel Pirek, Mayor of Brzeg Dolny, Poland. “We can't do anything alone. Together we are powerful; we are great. The most important thing is to be able to count on each other, just like in an orchestra.”

The USAFE Concert Band anticipates future interactions and collaborations with their Polish allies as part of a broader series of military-to military activities that shape their strong partnership.
