LINTHICUM, Md. – The Center for Development of Security Excellence (CDSE) announced that the Sentry App - a free interactive app that provided up-to-date information on insider threat training - is discontinued and was removed from Google Play and the iOS App Store on Oct. 24.
The Sentry App was a favorite among smartphone users for its user-friendly interface, robust features, and easy-to-use design. The app gained a dedicated following since its launch, but it appears that will be a thing of the past. The decision to discontinue the app was not made lightly.
CDSE created the mobile application with the vigilant user in mind and allowed users to download posters, play eLearning games, watch the Manifestation Series (developed exclusively for the app), and find toolkit items needed to promote awareness year-round.
Amber Jackson, CDSE Insider Threat Curriculum manager, explained that the difficult decision to discontinue the Sentry App was prompted by evolving training dynamics and the necessity to focus on new projects within the program.
The discontinuation of the Sentry App serves as a reminder of the ever-evolving landscape of the mobile app industry. Users must adapt to changes in the tech world and be prepared to find alternative solutions when beloved apps like the Sentry App are gone.
While the discontinuation is undoubtedly a bittersweet moment for Sentry App users, CDSE’s commitment to provide excellence in security training with offerings on their website promises for a smooth transition.
