QUANTICO, Va. — On Oct. 31, Lt. Gen. James F. Glynn, Deputy Commandant for Manpower and Reserve Affairs, held an all-hands town hall meeting for the M&RA staff at Little Hall theater, during which he recognized several staff members who embodied tenets of his philosophy.
Glynn’s personal philosophy is a collection of ideals and values that he found useful over the years. The list includes points such as “be what right looks like,” “pay it forward,” and “think two levels up… and understand two levels down.”
One awardee was selected from each department within M&RA, and each was recognized for a single tenet of Glynn’s philosophy.
Those awarded were Mildred Blanco of the Business and Support Services Division for “do windows,” Terry Herron of the Wounded Warrior Regiment for “think two levels up… and understand two levels down,” Staff Sgt. Jaquil Wright in Reserve Affairs for “standards,” Kwesi Otu in Manpower Management for “pay it forward,” Capt. Parker Rost in Manpower Plans for “you are third,” Staff Sgt. Edgar RodriguezEspino of Marine and Family Programs for “it takes a team,” and Sgt. Emmanuel Herrera of Manpower Information for “be what right looks like.”
Glynn also congratulated Cindy Whitman Lacy, currently serving as the director for the Business and Support Services Division, on 34 years of service as a Civilian Marine and her upcoming retirement at the end of November.
