Bob Lewis became a music teacher and supervisor in the Northside Independent School District in San Antonio and played a pivotal role in shaping the vision and direction of the Northside Fine Arts department. Lewis dedicated 33 years to teaching music and eventually assumed the role of music supervisor for Northside Independent School District. As Northside Independent School District grew, the music program also continued to grow. When Lewis inherited the Northside High School music program, it consisted of 36 students; today there are tens of thousands of students involved in fine arts programs at NISD. NISD fine arts program offers art, band, choir, theater, dance, orchestra, art history, jazz, madrigals, mariachi, and theater production. NISD recognized and honored his contributions by naming an elementary school Lewis Elementary School.
