Jane Keil (left) and Mary King first met each other in Germany. They were stationed overseas as officers in the U.S. Army. The two grew to be friends and would visit the Christmas Markets together. As their time together came to an end and they moved on to their next duty stations they lost touch. The years went on and each of the ladies parted ways from the Army. They both continued to serve their communities, Keil worked with congress as a military liason. King was a teacher and now works for the unemployment office of Ohio.
After many years apart, they reconnected online and planned to meet each other. Most would meet at a half way point between their homes. These ladies are from Maryland and Ohio, and they met in Chicago. They said that it was a special place for them to meet because it is reminiscent of their time in Germany and the Christmas Markets that they went to together.
Their story is a familiar one for many military members. No matter how many years may pass, the bonds that are formed will remain.
