CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait — Third Army's assault command post conducted deployment training at Camp Buehring Feb. 12-25, to enhance the team's ability to react to possible situations within the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.

The field training exercise was an opportunity for Soldiers to conduct collective training for a sustained period of time.

After setting up the command post, the team conducted a mission readiness exercise which tested its reaction to real-world scenarios ranging from humanitarian assistance to combat operations.

The command post team conducted the same training at Camp Buehring that CENTCOM requires deploying units to do before initiating combat operations. The training focused on the combat skills necessary to survive in a deployed environment, as well as operations of the command post.

The capstone event was the transfer of the battle update reporting from the main command post to the assault command post.

"Ensuring our ACP is ready is one of Third Army's three major missions and could change the status of Third Army faster than any other," said Lt. Gen. William G. Webster, Third Army commanding general, during a visit to the command post. "Training at Camp Buehring allows the ACP to practice like it will deploy."
