U.S. Army Maj. Chris LeCron, an Akron, Ohio, resident and a reserve adjunct instructor at the Defense Information School, Ft. Meade, Md., is currently serving on a deployment to Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, as part of the Central Command Deployment Distribution Operations Center.

CDDOC utilizes a small team of logistics subject matter experts from each branch of the Armed Forces to optimize the movement of troops, supplies, weapons, vehicles and other DOD cargo to Iraq, Afghanistan and other areas within the United States Central Command's area of responsibility.

LeCron, a logistics and public affairs officer, is the deputy chief of staff for CDDOC. His duties include managing all assignments delegated from higher headquarters, tracking all CDDOC reports, and ensuring the director's schedule and events are synchronized.

The director of CDDOC is Air Force Maj. Gen. Robert McMahon. His CDDOC team includes a staff of 64 personnel, including several personnel forward deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq. The operations center merges experts from U.S. Transportation Command, Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command, Army Materiel Command, Defense Logistics Agency, and service components. Together, they plan the most efficient and timely movement of supplies to troops.

CDDOC moves supplies throughout an area of operations that includes 27 countries ranging from Egypt to Kazakhstan. Within that 6.5 million square mile area, CDDOC supports OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM (now called OPERATION NEW DAWN) and OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM through focused operations in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Jordan and Uzbekistan.
