DRAWSKO COMBAT TRAINING CENTER, Poland - U.S. Air Force Detachment 3, 3rd Weather Squadron (DET 3, 3d WS), composed of skilled Air Force personnel stationed at Fort Bliss, is a pivotal team supporting the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, during their deployment forward into the European Theater as part of Operation Assure, Deter and Reinforce.

At the heart of their daily responsibilities is the Mission Execution Forecast, a meticulous report detailing weather changes over a 24-hour.

This comprehensive information, covering winds, clouds, temperature, hazards, and heli-centric sensitive conditions, serves as a crucial resource for the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team (2ABCT) as they navigate the challenges of their operational footprint.

The daily forecast is instrumental in providing troops at all levels with a thorough understanding of training conditions and the necessary preparations for success.

U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Moshe Lee, the lead noncommissioned officer of the team, emphasized their approach: "We're always eyes forward. Taking the environmental intel, leveraging it against high computational equipment, and delivering a conclusive package to the soldiers is our responsibility."

Lee's commitment to clarity in weather reporting is evident as he stated, "We take the uncertainty out of the weather and provide definite information to the brigade about how it affects us and the battlefield."

U.S. Air Force 2nd Lt. Andrew Brandon, leading officer, highlighted the tangible impact of their weather forecasts on troop support: "Our weather impacts help to support the soldiers by providing a preparation period and understanding of weather conditions."

Brandon expanded on this, saying, "Between cloud ceilings, wind direction, and overall temperature, the impacts could affect everything from UAS teams, field artillery crews, to vehicle operability."

Brandon expressed his motivation and the guidance he receives from the brigade, saying, "My drive is to better understand how the weather impacts the army and better myself as a leader."

He continued, "The brigade has done nothing but guide me whenever they can."

The effortless teamwork at the Drawsko Combat Training Center highlights the seamless collaboration between the airmen and the brigade.

As Operation Assure, Deter, and Reinforce unfolds, DET 3, 3d WS remains essential, ensuring that troops have the necessary information to navigate and succeed in the challenging European Theater environment.

As the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team moves forward in their deployment, the contributions of the DET 3, 3d WS continue to make impacts, emphasizing the critical nature of their role in enhancing the brigade's readiness and effectiveness in the larger European theater.

The 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team maintains many combat-capable forces in Europe. It exists to deter aggression; if deterrence fails, stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our Allies and partners against that aggression. The 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, is forward deployed to Europe in support of the 3rd Infantry Division, V Corps at Drawsko Combat Training Center, Poland.
