Master Sgt. Adam Ducharme, 104th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron first sergeant, and Master Sgt. Jennifer Tittle, 104th Civil Engineering Squadron prime base engineer emergency force manager, have been selected for the 2023 Massachusetts Outstanding Airmen of the Year award, Jan. 2024, at Barnes Air National Guard Base, Massachusetts.
These awards recognize Ducharme and Tittle for going above and beyond their line of duty by demonstrating superior leadership abilities and community involvement.
Ducharme played a key role in reviving the 104th First Sergeants Council as well as creating the wing’s first Key Spouse Program. These programs provided his fellow Airmen with additional resources and opportunities, which he hopes will continue to boost morale.
“It’s just being there for people whenever they need support, and helping them get in the best position to succeed,” said Ducharme. “That is what these events can do.”
During Tittle’s six-month deployment at Kuwait’s Ali Al Salem Air Base as the operations engineering superintendent, Tittle made numerous quality of life improvements for over 3,800 joint coalition personnel, while also providing valuable mentorship opportunities for her fellow Airmen.
“Being a mentor gave me a great opportunity to meet Airmen from different career fields and understand their challenges and struggles, and then try to help guide them through those,” said Tittle. “Just to know what resources are available to them and then help them know where to go and understand what benefits are available to them was huge.”
Tittle further demonstrated her leadership and mentor abilities through her participation in Kuwait’s Women and Peace Security Reception, which played a crucial role in building strong connections and promoting collaboration.
“That was another awesome opportunity,” said Tittle. “It was really interesting to speak with them and learn about the challenges they face as Kuwaiti women in military and law enforcement positions, and then share how women in the US military uniquely face some of those same challenges as well.”
Ducharme and Tittle’s commitment to helping their fellow Airmen has made a direct impact on mission readiness and their leadership is an embodiment of what the Outstanding Airmen of the Year Award represents.
