    111th Attack Wing

Chief Master Sgt. Troy Martin, the 270th Engineering Installation Squadron superintendent, was promoted to the highest enlisted rank in the Air Force during a ceremony on Saturday, January 3, 2024 at Biddle Air National Guard Base in Horsham, Pennsylvania.

While introducing Martin, Lt. Col. Carolyn Bartley, 270th Engineering Installation Squadron Commander, spoke about how grateful she was for the breadth of experience Martin's 30 years brings and his excellent ability as a leader and mentor. During her introduction, to highlight the caliber of this new leader, she cited a quote from Martin's former commander at 111th Communications Flight, Capt. Adekunle Fodeke.

According to Bartley, Fodeke said, "I can attest firsthand to Senior Master Sgt. Martin's indispensable role. He was not just a leader, he was the bedrock upon which our operations thrived. In the face of adversity, he did not falter. Instead, he stepped forward."

Multiple individuals remarked on Martin's open-door policy. His willingness and desire to support those around him attracted many to his door.

"I used to share an office with him," recalled Capt. Howard Chattley, 111th Communications Flight Director of Operations. "People from throughout the Wing were waiting outside his office like it was a doctor's office."

Despite his new role as the Chief of Engineering and Installations for the 270th, Martin assured everyone that his open door policy is still in place.

"I just want you all to know that I'm here to help you get to that next level," said Martin. "Whether it is your professional career or personal career, just know that my door is always open."
