CONTINGENCY OPERATING BASE SPEICHER, Iraq — Greeneville, Tenn., native, Spc. Travis D. Jackson, has been stationed at Contingency Operating Base Speicher, Iraq, for a couple weeks. The Tennessee Guard member is on his second deployment and serves as a company intelligence support team member with L Troop, 3rd Squadron, 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment, Tennessee Army National Guard, Greeneville, Tenn.
Jackson has set high goals for the deployment and plans to stay busy by completing as many college credits as possible.
As part of the company intelligence support team for the 3/278th ACR, Jackson's job is to brief soldiers and leaders about upcoming missions. Throughout the deployment, he plans to better his professional skills and continue to give Soldiers and leaders the best information possible to plan missions and keep everyone safe.
Jackson has a wife, Kashira Jackson, and daughter, Jordyn, 3. He enjoys sport shooting, working with computers and going to the park with his daughter.
"I would like to tell my family that I love them and I'll be home soon," said Jackson. "And also happy birthday to Jordyn."
