Maj. Andrew Neubauer, 111th Security Forces Squadron commander, was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel during a promotion ceremony here on Saturday, April 6. Entering the Air Force in 2009, Neubauer has had an impressive military career since.

“In his 12 years of active duty, he has had assignments across the globe,” said Col. Brian Silver, 111th Mission Support Group commander. “He’s deployed four times, served in the Air Force’s premier pre-deployment hub, as well as managing the execution of the Air Force mobility commands elite Phoenix Raven qualification course.”

Silver continued on with additional duties and accolades Neubauer has accomplished during his time in service.

“If I am anything as an officer, it’s because I am very much a product of the supervisors, senior NCOs, and peers that I’ve been blessed with throughout my career,” said Neubauer. “I am very fortunate that my experience in this career field has been filled with motivated, compassionate leaders who have genuinely only wanted the best for the Airmen under their charge.”

Neubauer has instilled these values in his own leadership approach and is grateful for his unit.

“I am blessed to be a part of an amazing squadron of the hardest working, most motivated Airmen ‘Big Blue’ has to offer,” said Neubauer. “I’ve never been so inspired by a group of people as I have by you all.”

In return, Neubauer’s squadron is as enthusiastic under his leadership as he is to have them on his team.

“Normally the once commander is afforded the honor and privilege of sharing the news that the promotion candidate has received the promotion that’s coming through, however I missed the opportunity,” said Silver. “A member of his team was so thrilled about hearing the news, that he apparently was overwhelmed with joy and yelled out from his office thus notifying Maj. Neubauer.”

This excitement from his team reveals the type of leader that commands the men and women of the 111SFS.

In honored tradition, the ceremony concluded with Neubauer confirming his commitment to Our Nation by reaffirming his Oath of Office with family, friends and members of the 111th Attack Wing in attendance.
