Buckley Space Force Base, Colo. --
Reserve Citizen Airmen of 8th Space Warning Squadron conducted a change of command ceremony at Buckley Space Force Base, Colorado, Mar. 7, 2024.
Col. Samantha Pitman, the 710th Operations Group commander, presided over the ceremony as Lt. Col. Jonathan Lee assumed command of the 8th Space Warning Squadron from Col. Anthony Raphael.
Lee will be responsible for over 120 military and civilian personnel assigned to 8th SWS. The squadron is responsible for a diverse set of missions to include 24/7 persistent space-based global missile warning and battlespace awareness in support of the U.S. and allied forces.
Prior to taking command of the 8th SWS, Lee served as the assistant operations officer of 19th Space Operations Squadron.
Raphael will continue to serve as the reserve advisor and deputy to the deputy commanding general of operations for missile warning, positioning, timing and navigation, U.S. Air Force, Peterson SFB, Colorado.
