WICHITA, KS. -- The National Guard Association of Kansas and the Enlisted Association of Kansas hosted their annual conference at the Drury Plaza Hotel in Wichita on April 14, 2024.
“We had dinner last night in which we also had a professional development speaker come in and talk,” said Wallace Miller, the president of the national guard association. “The first thing that we do is provide professional development to our officers and enlisted.
Enlisted and officer members of the Kansas National Guard are presented with opportunities for professional development throughout their careers.
The National Guard Association and Enlisted Association of Kansas provide a support system for soldiers and the problems they face.
“We are here to take all the problems that you face as a soldier or airmen through this state's leadership all the way up to national leadership,” Miller said. “We advocate on your behalf to fix or get after those problems, develop solutions, and then through the legislative process, get those solutions codified in law policy, or whatever that solves the problem.”
The conference gave National Guard members a chance to connect with each other and to announce upcoming changes for the organization.
According to Miller, there were six general officers in attendance at the conference that helped faciliate networking between the different rank levels present.
The National Guard Association of Kansas will attend the National Guard Association of the United States General Conference in August 2024.
