After one year of helping rebuild Iraq's infrastructure, as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Soldiers of the 762nd Transportation Company returned home to warm hugs of family members and friends in Canton, Ohio.
"Bonding with my military family made my first tour go a little smoother" stated SPC Todd Bruwier, motor transport operator.
"Excellent training and preparation lead to no causalities or injuries and that's why we all made it home", Bruwier added.
The mission of the company was to transport material, men and equipment throughout the country of Iraq. The end result of a job well done was that this company logged over a million miles with no safety issues or mishaps.
"Vehicles were better up armored on this tour" stated Spc. Kevin Helton, Iraqi war Veteran.
"The Army spent a lot of time researching the best ways to get Soldiers ready to accomplish their mission and that's why this second tour went a lot smoother" Helton added.
Among the many accomplishments this transportation company claimed, eight of their Soldiers received Bronze Star's and fifteen received Meritorious Service Medal's.
"Seasoned veterans really played a key role in getting this mission done" stated Company Commander 1st Lt. Christopher Marion.
"We also was blessed that to have such huge support from our family support group that we were in need of nothing" Marion added.
Many of these Soldier's will return back to the civilian market eager to make positive contributions. It is in good spirit that these Soldiers are welcomed back because they are the heroes that make America stronger.
