JERSEY CITY, NJ- In a demonstration of dedication and patriotism, 8 soldiers from the 445th Quartermaster Company recently hosted their reenlistment ceremony at the Statue of Liberty May 19, 2024, in Jersey City, NJ. These soldiers courageously reaffirmed their commitment to serving their country, marking a significant milestone in their military careers.
First Lieutenant Abhinav Goyal, serving as the Company Executive Officer of the 445th Quartermaster Company, administered the oath, guiding these soldiers through the solemn reaffirmation of their commitment to defend the Constitution and uphold the nation's values.
“This is the first reenlistment I’ve been to, let alone one where I am administering the oath.” 1Lt Goyal said “Its definitely a great honor to be given a chance to administer the oath in front of the statue of liberty itself, and although I’m a bit nervous about the task, I’m still proud that I get the chance to be apart of such a great event!”
Reflecting on the occasion, Company Commander First Lieutenant Emily Kelson expressed her pride and excitement for her soldiers. "I'm ecstatic for my soldiers! This is my first command, and though I've only been with them since January, I've witnessed tremendous motivation and hard work ethic from each of them. I foresee many achieving great heights, and I eagerly anticipate working alongside them in the years to come," she remarked.
While reenlistment ceremonies are commonplace in the military, each event holds profound significance for the soldiers involved, symbolizing their unwavering dedication to their service and the nation they represent.
Among the ceremony's highlights was the presence of family members, who gathered to witness their loved ones make the choice to continue their military journey. Their support serves as a testament to the bond shared between soldiers and their families, reinforcing the importance of unity and sacrifice in service to the country.
“With this being my second reenlistment, I enjoy being a part of a team, putting on the uniform and always ready for a challenge.” says SPC Ross, Levy “I’m excited to embark on my next journey”.
With reenlistments playing a major role in the Army, a high retention rate within the Army is crucial for maintaining overall readiness and resilience. Soldiers who choose to reenlist demonstrate their commitment to the Army's values, mission, and culture, thereby contributing to a more motivated and resilient force.
