The 125th Finance Battalion, 8th Military Police Brigade, 8th Theater Sustainment Command held an
assumption of responsibility ceremony on Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, May 17.
Command Sgt. Maj. William R. White assumed responsibility of the 125th Finance Battalion from the
commander of troops Master Sgt. Lorena M. Sermeno.
“Today, marks a significant milestone in my career, one that wouldn’t have been possible without the
incredible support, guidance, and mentorship I’ve received along the way,” said White.
The battalion was left without its senior enlisted advisor after Command Sgt. Maj. Craig A. Rodland
relinquished responsibility in March.
“I am honored to serve as your Command Sergeant Major. Together, we will continue to uphold the
proud traditions and values of our battalion, striving for excellence in all that we do,” said White. “I
pledge to lead with integrity, fairness, and dedication, always putting the welfare of our Soldiers first.”
The assumption of responsibility is a time-honored tradition symbolizing the passing of command
responsibility through the passing of the battalion colors and the arrival of the senior enlisted advisor to
the battalion commander.
“Together, we will face challenges, overcome obstacles, and achieve greatness,” said Lt. Col. Leviticus D.
Pope, commander, 125th Finance Battalion. “We will work as a cohesive unit, with mutual respect and
trust, to accomplish our goals and fulfill our duties with honor and excellence.
White took the time to acknowledge the support and sacrifices his wife, Tamica, and children, Lakerria,
William, Jaiden, Michaela, and Elelynn, have made throughout his career.
“To my beloved wife, your unwavering love, strength and support have sustained me though the
challenges of military life,” said White. “To my children, your sacrifices have not gone unnoticed, and I
am immensely proud to be your parent.”
Pope recognizes and embraces the short time he and his new senior enlisted advisor will share together
as Pope will hand over command of the Finance Battalion in two weeks.
“I am excited about the journey ahead and the opportunity to serve alongside such an exceptional
individual for the next two weeks,” said Pope. “I am confident in your abilities, the Soldiers, NCO’s,
officers and our collective strength.”
