JOINT MULTINATIONAL READINESS CENTER, Germany -- U.S. Soldiers assigned to the 109th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment, 213th Regional Support Group, Pennsylvania Army National Guard, are serving in support of Exercise Combined Resolve 24-2 here.

The 109th MPAD Soldiers use photos, videos, news and feature writing to tell the stories of the 4000 Soldiers from 16 different countries participating in the recurring multinational exercise.

“We have had the opportunity to [provide public affairs coverage to] some units that maybe haven't been covered much,” said Capt. Leanne Demboski, the officer-in-charge of the 109th MPAD task force in Germany. “For example, the 821st Engineer Construction Company is here from West Virginia. They're a state away from us. They seem excited and welcomed us going out and interviewing their Soldiers.”

109th MPAD Soldiers are working with the 101st Airborne Division as the primary unit training here as well as other units who are training at JMRC as a part of Combined Resolve 24-2, a U.S.-led exercise focused on cooperation between partner and allied nations. Additionally, the 109th MPAD is covering the 134th Medical Company, the 325th Psychological Operations Detachment, and the 821st Engineer Company.

“I think that trips and missions abroad like this one are a great opportunity for the MPAD and photojournalism Soldiers to expand their skills,” said Staff Sgt. Uriah Clites, a public affairs specialist with the 109th MPAD. “We really gain a lot from overseas travel missions like this because it affords us the opportunity to capture content we typically wouldn’t and learn more about our jobs from other skilled military personnel.”

The 109th MPAD's goal in the public affairs arena is to release accurate information about what the Army is doing in a timely manner. The 109th MPAD is doing their part in telling military members and the public about the military's goals in holding exercises like Combined Resolve 24-2.

The 109th MPAD, the National Guard Bureau’s 2023 Public Affairs Organization of the Year (large category), and other public affairs personnel fulfill the Army's obligation to keep the public informed, and help to establish the conditions that lead to confidence in the Army and its readiness to conduct operations.
