FORT DEVENS, Mass. — Soldiers of the 633rd Theater Gateway, from Springfield, Ill., are honing their human resources skills during Silver Scimitar 2010.
Silver Scimitar is the U.S. Army Reserve Command level multi-component human resources training exercise designed to prepare units to conduct HR missions within every theater of operations.
The 633rd TG is an Illinois Army National Guard unit, which came to fruition less than one year ago to support inbound and outbound Soldiers in all theaters of operations.
During many training exercises, sustainment Soldiers are there to support combat troops, but Silver Scimitar is specifically designed to train the sustainers.
"We want to get the 633rd familiar with active duty systems," said Col. Michael R. Zerbonia, the commanding officer of the 108th Sustainment Brigade, from Chicago. "I'm very impressed with the in-brief and the focus on lower density military occupational specialties during Silver Scimitar."
