    Colonel Slade K. Smith is Commander, 2d Theater Signal Brigade, USAG Wiesbaden, Germany. The 2d TSB delivers integrated and interoperable theater communications and cyber capabilities to enable decision dominance across all levels and phases of war in support of combat forces and mission partners in Europe and Africa.

    Colonel Slade K. Smith is a native of Texarkana, Texas. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas and received his commission into the Signal Corps with a branch detail to Field Artillery.

    He entered the Army in 2001, serving in various leadership and staff positions at the platoon, company, battalion, and brigade levels. His deployments include Taszar, Hungary with 1-321st Field Artillery (Airborne) to support the training of Freed Iraqi Forces (FIF), two deployments to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with 51st Signal Battalion (Airborne), and Khost, Afghanistan with 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as an embedded combat advisor to the 1st Infantry Brigade of the Afghan National Army’s 203rd Corps.

    Recent key assignments include Operations Division Chief, USEUCOM J6 in Stuttgart, Germany; Commander, 52d Signal Battalion in Stuttgart, Germany; Commander, Executive Services Command at the White House Communications Agency, in Washington, D.C.; and Executive Support Branch Chief at the Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, J6 at the Pentagon, in Washington, D.C.

    Colonel Smith holds a Master of Science in Organizational and Human Resource Development from Abilene Christian University and a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.

    His military education includes the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course, Signal Officer Captains Career Course, Army Command and General Staff College, and Army War College.

    His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with oak leaf cluster, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Meritorious Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, Combat Action Badge, Senior Parachutist Badge, Joint Staff Identification Badge, and the Presidential Service Badge.
