FORT BELVOIR, Va. (June 14, 2024) --The National Care Consortium (NCC) Family Medicine Residency Program at the Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center (ATAMMC) has solidified its reputation for producing exceptional full-scope physicians capable of providing leadership in diverse environments.
Since April 2015, the program has seen 117 graduating residents successfully pass their board certification exam on their first attempt, consistently surpassing the national average scores each year. This remarkable achievement has resulted in a perfect 100% board pass rate over the past nine years.
The three-year Family Medicine program offers comprehensive training in all aspects of patient care, from routine outpatient visits to surgical procedures, pediatric and geriatric medicine, and maternity care, including obstetric deliveries. Graduates are well-prepared to tackle a wide range of assignments within the military and are poised to become future leaders in military medicine.
As the largest and only tri-service active-duty military family medicine residency in the Department of Defense (DoD), the NCC program is dedicated to producing exemplary Army, Navy, and Air Force family physicians ready to serve in any global environment.
Training primarily takes place at the Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center, a bustling medical treatment facility within the Military Health System. Residents also benefit from rotations at Fairfax INOVA Hospital, the largest tertiary care center in northern Virginia. The program prioritizes educational innovation and resident well-being, constantly updating or creating curricula to meet evolving learning needs.
Upon graduation, all residents possess the skills necessary to practice full-spectrum family medicine care, including obstetrics. The NCC Family Medicine Residency Program continues to uphold its commitment to excellence in producing top-tier military medical professionals.
