    Story by Maj. Mark Halliday

    4th Expeditionary Sustainment Command

The Army Reserve refuelers provided military aviation fuel at a civilian airport to an Air Force Global Strike Command B-52 bomber, Air Mobility Command KC-135 and KC-46 tanker aircraft, and a C-130 aircraft from the Air National Guard, June 3-7, 2024.

“This exercise provides the opportunity to demonstrate the ability of the Army Reserve to support joint missions with other services,” said Lt. Col. Tina Minoski, 316th Quartermaster Battalion commander. “Interoperability training is crucial to unit readiness for joint missions.”

This joint logistics exercise provides a unique training opportunity for both the U.S. Air Force and Army Reserve to enhance readiness, joint operations, equipment interoperability, and communications.

“Real world missions provide our soldiers with the ability to exercise their skill sets and work with other services,” said Master Sgt. Jeremie Johnson, 316th Quartermaster Battalion senior enlisted soldier for the exercise. “Seeing these soldiers work side by side with Air Force personnel has been an incredible experience for all involved.”

The 316th Quartermaster Battalion is part of the 90th Sustainment Brigade and the 4th Expeditionary Sustainment Command (ESC). The 4th ESC is headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, with more than 6,000 soldiers in units across four states. The mission of the 4th ESC is to deploy the ESC headquarters to perform theater sustainment operations and provide a Joint Task Force (JTF) commander in any corner of the globe with trained, ready, resilient, and equipped soldiers, leaders, and units while caring for our soldiers and their families at home.
