    Troy, New York native, Jason J. Lennen, command surgeon for the Air Force District of Washington, promoted to the rank of Brigadier General in the U.S. Air Force during a ceremony held at Joint Base Andrews, Md., on June 6, 2024.

    Lennen was recently appointed as the 21st Biomedical Sciences Corps Chief for the United States Air Force on March 6. In his new position, Lennen serves as a senior advisor to the Air Force Surgeon General and leads the development, management and sustainment of 2,300 officers to provide Air Force capabilities in 13 professional medical specialties: Physical Therapist (42B), Optometrist (42E), Podiatric Surgeon (42F), Physician Assistant (42G), Audiologist (42N), Clinical Psychologist (42P), Clinical Social Worker (42S), Occupational Therapist (42T), Dietitian (43D), Bioenvironmental Engineer (43E), Public Health Officer (43H), Pharmacist (43P) and Biomedical Laboratory Officer (43T).

    Prior to this appointment and promotion, Lennen served as the senior medical advisor to the dual-hatted Commander of AFDW and the 320th Air Expeditionary Wing, the Command’s staff and the 316th Medical Group for all health service support policy, plans, engagements, and exercises. AFDW medics also provide direct support to a myriad of critical national capabilities including six wings, three headquarters, more than 150 mission partners, Presidential and Congressional Special Airlift Missions, and the operation of an En-Route Patient Staging Facility that serves as the aeromedical evacuation hub for the East Coast to receive wounded, ill, and injured service members back to the United States.

    Lennen has served for over 25 years in the military and has been assigned to clinic, ambulatory surgery center, hospital, and medical center locations in a variety of student, staff, instructor, and leadership positions. Lennen is a licensed pharmacist and board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist that has held clinical privileges in both inpatient and outpatient settings. He has deployed twice in support of operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom, served in four headquarters staff positions, and commanded a medical operations squadron and two medical groups.
