DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. – Col. Amy Meier, the 920th Rescue Wing’s new deputy commander, visited the 943d Rescue Group on July 12–14, 2024, at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona.
Meier was appointed as deputy commander of the 920th Rescue Wing at Patrick Space Force Base, Florida, in May 2024. She most recently served as the acting 355th Wing deputy commander. The 355th Wing is the host wing at Davis Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona.
“The intent of this immersion was to visit each of the squadrons and build relationships,” said Meier. “When you have geographically separated units, it is very important to know the units that fall under the wing and to go out and meet the people.”
During her short visit to the 943 RQG, she interacted with Airmen and learned about each squadron’s specific role in the rescue mission. The 943d RQG executes the 920th RQW mission to plan, lead, and conduct military rescue operations and missions to deny competitors and adversaries exploitation of isolated personnel.
“Taking care of our Airmen and advocating for them to ensure they have everything necessary to execute the mission is one of our priorities,” said Meier.
The 943d Rescue Group is a geographically separated unit of the 920th Rescue Wing.
