JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. – U.S. Air Force Col. Jun S. Oh, 316th Wing and installation commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Kevin W. Helms, 316th Wing command chief, addressed the wing during their first all call at Joint Base Andrews, Md., July 3.

Oh, who assumed command of the 316th Wing and installation the week prior, shared his vision and priorities for the wing. He emphasized the importance of possessing an optimistic outlook as one of his leadership philosophies and urged the wing to carry that optimism in their daily work.

“Right leadership is just about being a good person and trying to help out as much as you can,” Oh said.

Oh underscored his commitment to a people-first approach and stressed the essential role Airmen play in accomplishing the mission.

“At the end of the day none of the mission happens without each and every Airman at the squadron level,” Oh stated. "That’s where the mission gets done."

Helms echoed this people-first sentiment, pledging his unwavering support and advocacy for personnel as the wing’s command chief.

“I don’t take the privilege of serving with you all very lightly,” Helms said. “I owe you top cover. I owe you to be your wingman, your confidant, your advocate, to remove those roadblocks.”

In concluding the all call, both leaders emphasized the core values that drive the 316th Wing mission. They assured the team of their steadfast support and the importance of professionalism and dedication of every Airman.

"You know what it is we hold dearest to us?” Helms asked. “Being there for each other when we’re having bad days, to pick each other up, pat each other on the back and celebrate these great moments that we have in our careers. Being a good wingman is every day.”

"Let us know how we can help you, support you and empower you,” Oh concluded. “I want you to remember that Chief and I are here to serve you.”
