FORT HUACHUCA, Ariz. – Maj. Gen. Christopher L. Eubank relinquished command of the U.S. Army Network Enterprise Technology Command to Maj. Gen. Jacqueline D. McPhail during a change of command ceremony on Fort Huachuca’s historic Brown Parade Field Aug. 7.
The U.S. Army Cyber Command’s Lt. Gen. Maria B. Barrett presided over the event and spoke highly of both general officers, who have built resumes filled with over three decades of strategic, tactical and leadership experiences.
“Ladies and gentlemen, you are looking at our best senior signal door kickers,” Barrett said.
As McPhail now takes over the reins of NETCOM, she is more than ready, able and capable of driving continued modernization efforts in support of the Army, customer and warfighter.
“I look forward to taking point in this journey with you as we continue the efforts to unify the network,” McPhail said.
Over the 28 months of Eubank’s command, NETCOM has been the driving force of the Army’s move to a unified network and will always look fondly upon his time here.
“This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity in which I was able to lead the best, most capable group of information technology, communications and cyber professionals in the Army and I dare say the Department of Defense,” Eubank said.
NETCOM is a two-star operational command with global responsibility that’s in competition, conflict and crisis every day. The over 14,000 Soldiers, civilians and contractors geographically located across 30 countries have worked 24/7/365 to deliver one network for the Army.
“Two theater signal commands, eight brigades, one Global Cyber Center, five Regional Cyber Centers and roughly 183 Network Enterprise Centers make up these team of teams,” Eubank explained. “These organizations are the ones who have made the past two plus years one of innovation and change for the Army.”
Eubank hears the accolades for NETCOM from leaders across the Army, DOD, and organizations around the world, but he has never wanted to take credit for the accomplishments over these last two years.
“It has been my absolute honor to serve with the NETCOM team and I would gladly do it all again,” Eubank said. “I will miss two things, the people and the mission. “The people on the NETCOM team are the best group of people in the Army and they are proud of what they do every day and it shows. The mission is one that drives the Army every day and without the people accomplishing the mission the Army could not do what it does.”
Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM) is a 2-star operational command with global responsibility in constant competition, crisis, and conflict. We are responsible for providing the U.S. Army with a Unified Network based on Zero Trust Principles. We operate, maintain, and secure the Army’s portion of the Department of Defense Information Network through three lines of effort: People, Readiness, and Continuous Improvement. The NETCOM team is composed of over 14,000 Soldiers, Department of the Army Civilians, Host Nation and Contract Employees stationed and deployed in more than 30 countries around the world.
Enabling decision dominance!
