    Program Executive Office-Industrial Infrastructure

The Navy’s Program Executive Office, Industrial Infrastructure (PEO II), in partnership with the Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program (SIOP), completed part two of its first-ever Industry Day Aug. 13-15 in Washington.

Representatives from industry made 75 presentations to panels of Navy and other federal government experts, with innovative suggestions on design and modeling, contracting processes, waterfront systems and equipment, building structures and components, building systems, cybersecurity, energy and utilities, and program management that could enhance PEO II’s efforts to recapitalize the Navy’s industrial infrastructure.

“Delivering the foundation of fleet readiness means being open to new approaches to meeting the shore infrastructure needs of our Navy’s nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and submarines,” said SIOP Program Manager Capt. Luke Greene. “I really appreciate the response from industry at this event, and we look forward to a strong continued partnership over the next many years as we continue to address the SIOP challenges and solve this problem for the Navy.”

SIOP is a holistic recapitalization of the Navy’s four public shipyards through a combination of new and existing facilities. SIOP is a holistic plan that integrates investments in facilities, utilities, and industrial plant equipment to meet nuclear fleet maintenance requirements.

This event followed a June 5 presentation by Greene to approximately 500 virtual attendees to familiarize them with the scope of the program and how critical it is to the Navy’s mission, as well as to emphasize the need for innovative ideas that break from the Department of Defense’s typical ways of doing business.

“We undertook Industry Day to increase the Navy’s awareness of new technology, products and applications available in private industry related to construction, cybersecurity, and project and program management,” said Greene. “As we develop the SIOP program, we will consider Industry Day insights as we develop solutions for challenges on future projects.”
