FORT CAVAZOS, Texas – The GREYWOLF Brigade, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, recently hosted the Mungadai event, a key initiative designed to strengthen leadership and foster teamwork among its company commanders. This event, crucial for improving unit cohesion and decision-making, comes at a time when large-scale combat operations and frequent leadership changes underscore the need for a resilient, unified team.

Spanning several days, the Mungadai event brought together all the brigade's company commanders for a series of intensive workshops, strategic discussions, and team-building exercises. The primary objective was to develop strong relationships among leaders, which is essential for effectively managing the complexities of modern military operations.

"The dynamic and challenging environment we face, coupled with frequent leadership changes at the company level, makes it imperative that we build a cohesive GREYWOLF team," said Col. Edward Arntson, GREYWOLF Brigade Commander. "The Mungadai event is not just about fostering camaraderie but also about enhancing our ability to make critical decisions as a unified front. When we understand and trust one another, we operate more effectively and respond to challenges more quickly."

The Mungadai event featured various activities aimed at building leadership and team-building skills, including motor pool tasks, pistol and rifle range exercises, land navigation, and leadership reaction courses. These exercises provided valuable opportunities for the company commanders to engage in simulated operational scenarios that tested their strategic thinking and collaborative abilities. Interactive workshops focused on communication and leadership development, encouraging participants to share insights and experiences, fostering a deeper mutual understanding beyond individual commands.

"What I got out of our three days of Mungadai is just how powerful teamwork is here—not only in the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team but in the Army as a whole," said Capt. Katelynn Howard, a participating company commander from Brigade Headquarters and Headquarters Troop.

Capt. Matthew Brown, company commander of Alpha Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, emphasized the importance of the leadership reaction course (LRC). "The LRC showcases how leaders improve their decision-making skills and how team dynamics function with a clear hierarchy. It emphasizes the importance of executing tasks effectively while providing constructive feedback, ultimately highlighting the need for seamless execution and teamwork," Brown said.

A key takeaway from the Mungadai event was its focus on addressing the challenges of high leadership turnover by creating meaningful dialogue and problem-solving opportunities. The relationships and skills developed during the event are expected to significantly enhance the brigade's overall effectiveness in large-scale combat operations.

In conclusion, the Mungadai event highlights GREYWOLF's commitment to advancing leadership cohesion and decision-making capabilities. As Col. Arntson emphasized, this event is a critical step toward ensuring the brigade operates as a unified and effective team, ready to face future challenges with resilience and adaptability.
