FORT CAVAZOS, Texas—U.S. Army Soldiers exhibit the Seven Army Values, including loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage, while serving their country. They fulfill their obligations, put the needs of the nation and the Army before their own, and face adversity head-on. However, they are not immune to stress and problems associated with military life. The Army has developed programs to care for its service members and their families.

Mr. William Soto, the Ready and Resilient Program Manager for Operational Test Command, created a resource fair to educate Soldiers, Department of the Army (DA) Civilians, and their family members on available resources.

The Operational Test Command (OTC) hosted its inaugural Ready and Resilient (R2) Fair on Aug. 28 at Fort Cavazos, Texas, alongside multiple organizations and agencies. The R2 program was created to help everyone, regardless of rank or position.

The fair provided an opportunity for Soldiers, DA Civilians, and family members to build connections with different resources across Fort Cavazos, such as Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR), Army Community Services (ACS), the New Parent Support Program, and the Texas Veterans Commission.

“The Ready and Resilient resource fair is important because in the event that our DA civilians or Soldiers have a problem, they know what resources are available to assist them,” said U.S. Army Command Sgt. Maj. Joe Johnson, Operation Test Command Sergeant Major. “This initiative strengthens the culture in the organization.

The OTC has four test directorates at Fort Cavazos: Aviation, Maneuver, Maneuver Support and Sustainment, and Mission Command.

The mission of the U.S. Army Operational Test Command is to conduct independent operational testing for acquisition and fielding decisions for the U.S. Army,” said Johnson. “We promote readiness by investing in our workforce.”

Mr. Soto, the R2 Program Manager, revealed that the Operation Test Command intends to host this event quarterly for the well-being of Soldiers, DA Civilians, and families.

The MWR offers a variety of programs, events, and activities for Soldiers and their families. The Army Community Services provides programs that support Soldier and family readiness and prevention, as well as financial, relocation, and spouse employment assistance. The New Parent Support Program helps Soldiers and family members who are expecting a child or have a child up to three years of age, to build strong and resilient military families. The Texas Veterans Commission helps veterans, their families, and survivors with claims, education, employment, grants, and mental health.
