    The 2nd Battalion, 19th Special Forces Group (Airborne), 77th Brigade Troop Command held a change of command ceremony September 14, 2024, at the Kenova Armed Forces Readiness Center in Kenova, West Virginia.

    Unit Command Sgt. Maj. Martin Graff and his Soldiers were joined by veterans, family, and friends in saying farewell to outgoing commander Lt. Col. Robert “Bob” V. Luther III and welcomed incoming commander Lt. Col. Michael J. Susick.

    Col. James. D. Reese, 77th Brigade Troop Command commander, presided over the ceremony and thanked Luther for his continued service and his family for their support.

    Prior to the ceremony, the noncommissioned officer in charge of operations, Master Sgt. Nathan Smith was promoted to the rank of sergeant major.

    The 2/19th SFG(A) is composed of Headquarters Company, Support Company, and Forward Support Company, all based in Kenova, W.Va., Company C in Kingwood, W.Va., Company A in Middletown, Rhode Island, and Company B in Columbus, Ohio.

    Throughout the year, the battalion trains, equips and deploys special operations forces globally as directed by U.S. Special Operations Command. Elements also respond to homeland threats, disasters and other assigned domestic missions as directed by their respective state governors. The battalion also includes the 1528th Forward Support Company (Special Operations) (Airborne) located in Martinsburg, W.Va.
