Camp Kinser welcomed between 10,000 to 15,000 local citizens, military members and SOFA personnel who joined in the festivities of Kinser Fest.
“With how few opportunities Kinser has to open the base to our local national partners, it (Kinser Fest) shows the city community as well as surrounding communities that the U.S. military is here to be a friend.” said Rachel Melton, Camp director, Camp Kinser. “We’re here to protect, to foster relationships. That's what the camp festival is about, Fostering a positive relationship with the local nationals and the populace here.”
One of the main attractions at the festival is the variety of food stands. Food trucks and pop-up tents sold treats and food such as snow cones, BBQ, kebabs, birria tacos, and fries.
The festival also included a game area with multiple games such as a fishing game and a shooting gallery with toy BB guns where participants could earn prizes. Beyond the game area, was a wide range of attractions known as Kids Land which included a rock wall, bungee jumping, and amusement park rides.
“They do a fantastic job on making sure there's activities for kids of all ages to keep them engaged outside, safe, hydrated,” said Melton.
Before the night’s final performance, Moon held a meet-and-greet with fans before he took the stage. As he stepped on stage, the crowd cheered. Children climbed onto shoulders for a better view, and festival attendees sang along to the songs being performed. The night finished with a group selfie taken by Moon while on stage.
