Whether going to the Commissary, a medical appointment, personnel office, or conducting other business on JBSA, a free transportation option may be available.

The 502nd Logistics Readiness Squadron, along with a contracted bus company, provides shuttle service on JBSA-Lackland and -Fort Sam Houston.

Shuttles run on a schedule and can be tracked on the free Passio Go app.

The app includes Global Positioning System, or GPS, tracking capabilities so riders can see exactly where each bus is, the route, and how long the wait time is. This allows JBSA riders to stay in shelter during harsh weather without worrying about missing a bus, according to Staff Sgt. Ricardo Casado, contracting officer representative, 502nd Logistics Readiness Squadron.

In addition to helping JBSA shuttle customers, the app provides important information to the bus drivers and the ground transportation offices.

"It records the exact time of arrival at each bus stop, so everyone knows each shuttle is making the stops on time," Casado said.

Installing the app is not required to use the service, but it can be very helpful for planning.

To install, download “Passio Go” from your Google Play or Apple Store; go to “Account” and enter JBSA in the “Code” box, then again as your agency.

While active-duty personnel have priority, anyone with a DOD identification card, or a dependent accompanied by a cardholder, can utilize the JBSA shuttles. In addition, guests invited by the installation commander, which includes Basic Military Training families and contractors with on-base access, are authorized to ride on JBSA shuttles.

“The JBSA shuttle is crucial to members to ensure they can have constant transportation throughout all times of the day, whether that is for work or after hours,” Casado said.

A separate shuttle service is available between Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center and Brooke Army Medical Center, and those schedules may be found at the centers.

For more information or if you have questions about JBSA shuttle service, contact a contracting officer representative office at 210-671-0069 or 210-671-9898.
