Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center

It’s Mission Monday! Meet Daniel Sanchez, a plans cell lead for the Strategy, Plans, and Innovation team at the Air Force Services Center.

Sanchez and his team provide direct support to AFSVC leadership by converting ideas, objectives and requirements into detailed plans, services and products for Airmen, Guardians and their families. With specialties in project and change management, as well as management planning and execution, Sanchez supports 4-6 projects each year that vary in scope, scale and impact.

Sanchez is a San Antonio native who received his master’s degree from Texas A&M San Antonio and currently enjoys spending time with his family, playing video games and watching anime outside of work.

We asked Sanchez to tell us more about himself and the work he does for the Department of the Air Force.

Q: Briefly tell us why you joined the Air Force or, if a civilian employee, civil service?
I had been working for Goodwill San Antonio for several years and one day, an acquaintance of mine told me about the Air Force hiring, took a chance to apply, and the rest is history!

Q: Why do you serve and what keeps you serving?
I believe I make a positive difference here with AFSVC. I keep serving because I enjoy my work and interacting with the people I work with.

Q: When it comes to your job, what keeps you motivated?
I stay motivated by consistently counting my blessings and remembering those who depend on me.

Q: Why are you and your team important to the Air Force/Space Force enterprise/your customers?
Strategy, Plans, and Innovation is one of many teams within the Air Force Services Center working as good stewards towards the resources our citizens trust us with, as planning is essential to mission accomplishment and sustainability.

Q: Describe a project/event you and your team worked on recently that gave you a great sense of accomplishment:
I recently closed out a project designed to find areas of cost savings and process efficiencies within the Air Force Services Center Information Technology portfolio. I felt a sense of accomplishment seeing over 10 recommendations move toward execution and for future execution.

Q: How does what you do support AFIMSC’s strategic priorities?
Each of the initiatives I support tie directly to Services leadership and higher headquarters priorities in the planning process for Strategy, Plans, and Innovation.
