Mary Barrett, a native of Elloree, South Carolina, serves the U.S. Navy assigned to Naval Medical Readiness Logistics Command (NMRLC).
Barrett graduated from Elloree High School in 1992. Additionally, Barrett graduated from Mount Olive College in Mount Olive NC, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems.
The skills and values needed to succeed in the Navy are like those found in Elloree.
“Growing up, I learned that God, consistency and determination were the keys to achieving any goals that you set for yourself,” said Barrett. "By keeping myself grounded, I have been able to accomplish both my personal and still achieving my career goals. Work hard, trust God and everything else will fall into place"
Barrett started her government civilian service 11 years ago.
“I joined the Air Force to travel and to help my parents live a better life,” said Barrett.
Headed by Capt. Christopher Barnes, NMRLC develops, acquires, produces, fields, sustains, and provides enduring lifecycle support of medical materiel solutions to the Fleet, Fleet Marine Force, and Joint Forces in high-end competition, crisis, and combat. At the forefront of Navy Medicine’s strategic evolution, NMRLC is well positioned to be the Joint Force’s premier integrated medical logistics support activity.
With 90% of global commerce traveling by sea and access to the internet relying on the security of undersea fiber optic cables, Navy officials continue to emphasize that the prosperity of the United States is directly linked to recruiting and retaining talented people from across the rich fabric of America.
Barrett serves a Navy that operates far forward, around the world and around the clock, promoting the nation's prosperity and security.
“We will earn and reinforce the trust and confidence of the American people every day,” said Admiral Lisa Franchetti, Chief of Naval Operations. “Together we will deliver the Navy the nation needs.”
Barrett has many opportunities to achieve accomplishments during military service.
“Retiring from the Air Force is one of my many achievements in my life,” said Barrett. "I look forward to continuing to serve the DoD."
Barrett can take pride in serving America through military service.
“Serving in the Air Force meant pushing myself to better myself and my Family,” said Barrett.
Barrett is grateful to others for helping make a Navy career possible.
While serving in the Air Force I was stationed at Whiteman, Seymour Johnson, Davis-Monthan, Shaw, and Langley AFB where I retired. I also deployed to Doha Qatar, where I got to serve as a member of the vulnerability assessment team and forward deployed to the American Embassy in in Kenya. I also served in Karshi-Khanabad Uzbekistan where I was a part of two rescue missions supporting the 79th Rescue Squadron. "After my term in the Air Force, I started my journey as a DoD civilian. My last 10 years as a civilian have been fruitful. I hope to get settled and take every day as a learning experience,” added Barrett.
