Soldiers of the 2nd Battalion, 162nd Infantry Regiment, 41st Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Oregon Army National Guard, took the hot seat during fire phobia training in Hohenfels, Germany, Sept. 28th, 2024. Fire Phobia training allows Soldiers to familiarize themselves with effective tactics and techniques for reacting to and mitigating the threats of improvised incendiary devices such as a Molotov cocktail.
This training partners U.S. Soldiers with Slovenian Observer coach/trainers, or OC/Ts, and is a part of ongoing efforts to ensure readiness for the Kosovo Forces mission in Kosovo. The training is for more than just U.S. forces, though. Members of the Italian, Albanian, German, and Armenian militaries also participated in the training, Sept. 28-Oct. 1, 2024.
The Kosovo Forces mission, also known as KFOR, has been maintaining a safe and secure environment for all residents in Kosovo since 1999. KFOR relies on well-prepared soldiers capable of responding to a wide range of threats, including potential fires caused by riots. Fire Phobia training enhances the operational effectiveness and readiness of KFOR troops, preparing them to continue to contribute to peace and stability efforts in the region.
