    19 Oct. 2024 - Retiree Appreciation Day

LUKE AIR FORCE BASE, ARIZONA, UNITED STATES

    10.16.2024

Story by Senior Airman David Busby

    56th Fighter Wing

U.S. military retirees are invited to attend the annual Retiree Appreciation Day 8:00-11:30 a.m., October 19th at Building 300 (Navy Reserve Center Phoenix), Luke Air Force Base, Arizona.

The 56th Fighter Wing would like to honor the service and commitment of U.S. military retirees while also providing a closer look into the mission at Luke AFB: To train the world's greatest fighter pilots and combat-ready Airmen.

Participants can see the F-16 and F-35A up close, escorted by their pilots and maintainers. Also, flu vaccinations will be available courtesy of the 56th Medical Group. 56th FW Judge Advocate members will be available to assist in legal services via appointment. The event will also include munition displays, ID card renewal, concessions, and more!

Base access procedures have recently changed, pre-register for DBIDS access today!

To better help the flow of traffic and expedite the line at the gates on the day of the event, any veteran and dependent with a retired or disabled ID can get a DBIDS pass done at the Lightning Gate Visitor Center. Attendees with existing base access do not need to register in DBIDS.

In order to get a DBIDS pass before the event and prevent any delays, the ID card must be valid through the day of the event. If the card is not valid, a pass will not be permitted.

Please note that only veterans who have the retired, dependent, or 100% disabled card can use the pre-enrollment process on the DBIDS website to make the pass issuance process quicker. However, the pre-enrollment site does not issue a pass or authorize them access to base. It simply speeds up the pass issuance process by having the individual enter their pertinent information for processing by security forces.

Any veteran with a Veterans Health Identification card (VHIC) with a “Service Connected Disability” will have to get a day pass on the day of the event. Attendees should have this card registered to Luke AFB prior to the event to avoid delays.

Interested parties are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to get a pre-DBIDS pass done before the event.

    South Gate Visitors Center service hours 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
    Lightning Gate Visitors Center service hours 8:00 a.m. – 4 p.m.
