"There's a lot of benefit to being a reservist," said Senior Airman Noel Ashburn, 911th Airlift Wing military justice paralegal. "You can have a full-time job, go to school and still serve your country."
Ashburn follows in the footsteps of her grandfather and brother and is the first female in her family to join the military. Ashburn originally wanted to join the public affairs team but a growing interest in the legal field drove her to join Pittsburgh International Airport Air Reserve Station Judge Advocate General corps and serve her nation from her own back yard. Ashburn said she is proud to be in the military and after being recognized for her work ethic and professionalism, was chosen to carry the United States flag during a Pittsburgh Steelers Salute to Service game in 2023.
Before joining the Air Force Reserve, she spent five years as reporter and is currently a production manager for a nonprofit group. In her free time Ashburn enjoys reading, snowboarding, road biking, and other outdoor activities.
