    7th Mission Support Command

KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany – 52 civil service employees from across the 7th Mission Support Command gathered in Kaiserslautern, Germany for a civil service employee symposium hosted Nov. 5 - 7, 2024.

Ms. Sonia Crisp, the civilian executive officer for the 7th MSC hosted the event in an effort to build understanding of the unit’s mission among the command’s civilian employee population.

“The primary goal is to help them understand their role in building readiness and what that means,” said Crisp. “I want them to have better organizational awareness – to understand where our organization is and where they fit in so they can apply themselves appropriately.”

Crisp underscored that ‘training and readiness’ aren’t just buzzwords units use to talk about planning and preparation. “At its core, the military’s mission is to fight and win our nation’s wars,” she said. “Training is embedded in everything our Soldiers do, in preparation to fulfill that mission, and I wanted our civilian employees to understand their impact on that mission.”

Attendees heard from training and exercise planning representatives from the 21st Theater Sustainment Command and participated in a number of resilience, team building, and integration exercises, including weapons education, preventive maintenance checks on tactical vehicles, familiarization with personal protective equipment, and signal operations, designed to help them understand the role of the U.S. Army Reserve in Europe and of their role in their respective units.

“I want to eliminate the divide between civilian employees and Soldiers,” said Crisp. We’re all on the same team, contributing to the accomplishment of the same mission.”

The 7th MSC has 68 civil service employees engaged in aiding their 26 units in administrative and training capacities.

The 7th Mission Support Command is the U.S. Army Reserve presence in Europe. Comprised of 26 units across Germany and Italy, the 7th MSC provides logistical and sustainment resources in support of U.S. Army Europe - Africa missions across the theater.
