Steel Airmen assigned to the 32nd Aerial Port Squadron joined forces with the 709th Airlift Squadron, on Nov. 6, 2024, to prepare and transport critical hospital equipment to Honduras through the Denton Humanitarian Assistance Program.
After the 32nd APS Port Dawgs staged and organized 32 pallets—nearly 80,000 pounds—of hospital supplies, including face shields, hospital beds, braces, and medical gowns, they worked with C-5M Super Galaxy loadmasters assigned to Dover Air Force Base to properly load each pallet aboard the aircraft. This vital equipment, donated by U.S. non-governmental organizations, will support healthcare facilities in Honduras, where resources are limited.
The Denton Program, authorized in 1987, is a Department of Defense initiative that leverages space available on military aircraft to transport humanitarian aid donated by U.S. organizations. The program is jointly managed by U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the Department of State, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, and the Department of Defense. This collaboration allows supplies to be transported at minimal cost to donors, ensuring that critical resources such as medical supplies, food, and educational materials reach communities worldwide.
The Denton Program’s logistics hub is based at Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina, but missions like this one draw on military resources across the country. As part of the 911th Airlift Wing, the 32nd Aerial Port Squadron brings expertise in cargo handling and logistics to ensure safe and efficient transport. The 709th Airlift Squadron conducts global strategic airlift missions using the Lockheed C-5 Galaxy aircraft to deliver supplies where they are needed.
The 911th Airlift Wing is committed to supporting global humanitarian efforts and stands ready to provide aid when called upon. Through missions like these, the wing upholds its dedication to humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, and support for vulnerable communities worldwide.
