The 55th Force Support Squadron held a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house to celebrate the reopening of the Offutt Event Center on base, Nov. 15, 2024.
The newly renovated event center will return to provide rental space for parties, promotion ceremonies, meetings, and other events.
The renovations began February 2023. Since then, the entire facility was updated with new carpet and paint to provide a cleaner and modern aesthetic. Also, the FSS team is currently working on an ongoing self-help project to improve the lighting systems. Originally scheduled to finish July 2024, the project was extended due to unforeseen site conditions that needed to be addressed.
“It’s bringing back a sense of community to the base, not only for people to host their events but also gather to spend time with one another,” expressed Trisha Loede, 55th FSS deputy director.
The evolution of the Offutt Event Center dates back to the mid-1950s when it initially opened as the Officer’s Club. Then, in 2001, it was renamed the Patriot Club and welcomed all ranks into its doors. Eventually in 2018, due to the loss of memberships and budget constraints, the Patriot Club closed its doors. However, in 2019, the club was reclassified and turned into a community center. It was subsequently rebranded and renamed the Warhawk Community Center.
What was previously the Warhawk Community Center will now operate within the Offutt Event Center, returning to host social, cultural, recreational, and educational programs in the former Global Lounge area. A gaming center and computer lab will also be available.
The Raiders Lounge will also continue to operate within the event center. The modernized space will now host more seating and access to a full-service bar.
“The Offutt Event Center has one big goal,” said Loede. “To give the base a place.”
The Offutt Event Center and Warhawk Community Center will be open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. The Raiders Lounge will be open Thursday and Friday evenings. All services are closed on federal holidays, wing family days, and weekends. The Offutt Event Center is available for weekend events, but reservations and coordination are necessary to book and host your function.
