PEO Enterprise recently recognized Parchell Patton for his 35 years of federal service, which includes 20 years of service in the U.S. Army.
Patton, an IT specialist who supports the Army Human Resource Systems (AHRS) product office, is responsible for management control of all functional inputs to program technical and administrative personnel in product management. Before joining the PEO in 2009, Patton worked in industry as a fielding technician, organizing and executing the fielding and installation of the AHRS/Personnel Service Delivery Redesign for user stations at designated Army units and Army National Guard and Reserve components both domestically and abroad.
We caught up with him recently to learn more about his career and personal life.
Q. Where did you grow up?
I grow up in Buffalo, New York with seven brother and sisters. I’m the second oldest child and the eldest son. I don’t miss Buffalo due to the snow, but I miss my family who is back there. I try to get up there once a year for family reunions.
Q. Do you have any other family members who served in the military?
Yes, my wife served for 12 years in the Army, and my daughter served in the Air Force for 20 years.
Q. What led you to become and remain a government civilian?
I love working for and supporting Soldiers. PEO Enterprise allows me to continue doing that. Also, the government provides a stable work environment for me and my family.
Q. What are some of your most memorable moments from your time at PEO Enterprise?
The most memorable moments have been the PEO Organization Day events, the wonderful Christmas parties that PEO hosts each year, and winning one of the big Christmas baskets one year.
Q. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I enjoy spending time with family and friends and learning how to play golf. My cousin has a nonprofit and sponsors a golf tournament back in Buffalo each year, so I take part in that. My wife and I moved to Huntsville, Alabama in 2020. I attend concerts and baseball games, and support Alabama A&M basketball and baseball. I enjoy anything that’s outdoors.
Q. What should newcomers to PEO Enterprise know about the organization?
They should know PEO Enterprise is a great organization, and they treat you like family.
Q. Anything else you’d like to share?
Yes, I would like to thank my mentors who’ve encouraged me and helped me as a person and government employee — Mr. Lee James, Ms. Karen R. Rosser and Ms. Elissa Zadrozny who all have worked at the PEO as my supervisors and leaders.
