Lt. Gen. Brian S. Robinson, commander of the Air Education and Training Command, met with leaders and members of the Mighty 97th Air Mobility Wing at Altus Air Force Base, Oklahoma, Nov. 20, 2024.

The purpose of the visit was to provide updates on Air Force initiatives, offer guidance and recognize the accomplishments of Airmen as part of an all-call, during which Robinson emphasized the critical role Airmen play in the military’s ongoing success.

“The secret to the success of the United States military is and has always been the people in it,” he said.

Robinson also spoke on the importance of military families, and the Air Force’s efforts to keep families a top priority.

Tech. Sgt. Darian Bourque, commander's action group superintendent, emphasized the importance of prioritizing family readiness for Airmen.
“As a mom, I love hearing a heavy focus on Airmen family readiness,” Bourque said. “The Air Force’s highest leaders showing an interest in family life and acknowledging the effect it can have on service members is huge.”

As the sole formal training unit for the C-17 Globemaster III, KC-46 Pegasus and KC-135 Stratotanker, Altus AFB is responsible for training over 70% of the Air Force’s air mobility force. Robinson highlighted the base’s vital role in ensuring global mobility and readiness.

“If we can’t move the people, machines and weapons to where we need them to be, then we’re not present for the fight,” Robinson said. “Your role in global mobility is tremendous; you are at the core of it.”

Robinson’s visit underscored the importance of the Mighty 97th’s mission and the dedication of its Airmen in maintaining the Air Force’s global reach and operational excellence.
