The Single Marine Program hosted a Thanksgiving dinner, served by volunteers and installation leaders, at the Cherry Point Public House, Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina, Nov. 28, 2024. The meal was offered to further inspire a sense of community and included of a hefty spread of turkey, ham, and traditional Thanksgiving sides and desserts. No matter the season, MCAS Cherry Point service members, Department of Defense civilians, and their families are cared for and prioritized.
Mike Largent, CEO of Marine Corps Community Services Cherry Point, explained that MCCS started hosting Thanksgiving dinners 15 years ago for unaccompanied Marines and Sailors to provide them with a home-cooked meal and fellowship during the holiday.
“Not everyone is able to go home for the holidays and there is always someone on duty,” Largent said. “We wanted to show the Marines that we appreciate their sacrifices.”
