FORT WAYNE, Ind – Representatives from the 122nd Fighter Wing (FW) visited the L3Harris facility Nov. 12, 2024 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The visit highlighted the importance of L3Harris' contributions to national defense and strengthened the connection between industry and warfighters.
U.S. Air Force Col. Jeremy Stoner, deputy commander, 122nd FW, opened the visit by delivering a mission brief to L3Harris employees. Drawing from his experiences as a fighter pilot, Stoner provided a vivid perspective on how L3Harris’ communications capabilities and components directly impact operational success. He underscored the importance of staying ahead of peer adversaries like China by maintaining focus and advancing technology to ensure a decisive edge in future conflicts.
Master Sgt. Jack Glad and Master Sgt. Giovanni Plascencia, aircraft maintenance, 122nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, shared insights into the Air Force's evolving strategies, including agile combat employment and the concept of multi-capable Airmen. These innovations aim to enhance flexibility, resilience, and adaptability, ensuring the Air Force remains ready for the challenges of tomorrow’s battles.
The 122nd FW team toured the L3Harris facility, gaining insight of the company’s production processes and engaging with the technicians who bring these capabilities to life. This exchange fostered a deeper mutual understanding of the link between defense industry partners and military operations.
The visit concluded with a Veteran’s Day lunch, celebrating the service and dedication of veterans while strengthening the bond between the 122 FW and L3Harris. This collaborative day served as a reminder of the shared commitment to ensuring the safety and success of U.S. warfighters.
